A charity book supported by the Hemraj Goyal Foundation
Voices from Punjab is a collection of fifteen stories celebrating the strength and resilience of Punjabi women living in the UK, including women in politics, such as Baroness Sandip Verma and Seema Malhotra MP– UK Parliament, to award winning leaders- Dr Kamel Hothi OBE, Rita Chowdhry and Kalbir Bains. Through the eyes of influential women such as broadcasters Sarita Sabharwal, and Rajni Kaul as well as authors Lady Kishwar Desai, Lady Mohini Kent Noon and Dr Mandeep Rai, we are offered unique and profound insights into shared experiences that have persisted across generations, from family dynamics to gender inequality and racial discrimination. Voices from Punjab also explores the lives of everyday women who have made great sacrifices to bestow a wealth of opportunity upon future generations such as Raj Nayyar, Mani K Bajwa, Parmjit Rai, Kuljit Sharma and Santosh Goyal. Each and every story illuminates the immeasurable contribution Punjabi women have made to British society. Through their philanthropy and words of wisdom, we truly begin to understand how values and persistence are key to triumphing over adversity.
Author and philanthropist, Anita Goyal has gathered these stories with Aastha K Singhania as co-author. Voices from Punjab seeks to bring the challenges and success of British-Asian women into the spotlight, with a further two books on the horizon.
Author royalties from the sale of this book will go to the Hemraj Goyal Foundation to support a livelihood project for vulnerable women and education for girls living in Punjab, India.
